Highlights:
- We expect an EPS of PKR 7.24 for 1HCY06 which is a YoY increase of 112%.
- ADR is expected to improve to 73% as against 72% last quarter.
- Spreads are expected to decline to 1.5% as against 1.54% last quarter as competition in attracting deposits increases. Their spreads are 2nd highest in the whole industry.
- Going forward, with an increase in CRR and SLR requirements, these spreads could come down given a high ADR of 73%.
- We expect an interim dividend of PkR 2 (20%)
The announcement of first half financial results of UBL is schedule on August 7,
2006 and we expect an EPS of PkR 7.24 for 1HCY06 as compared to Diluted EPS
of PkR 3.41 which depicts an increase of 112.68% YoY. UBL’s main armor is their
spreads which strengthened to 1.54% in 1Q CY06, ranked 2nd best in the
banking sector after MCB (1.87%), even leaving behind NBP in this contest. A
dividend of PKR 2 per share is expected this quarter.
